International Haiku Poetry Day

Konnichiwa!

In case you are wondering why the Japanese greeting?...It's in support of the Haiku, which originated in Japan.

Let's explore this topic...

Firstly, how would you describe poetry? I believe each of us will provide unique yet beautiful expressions.

Poetry does not have to rhyme or fit a certain template, just express what's on your mind. Putting pen to paper. Allow your heart to 'speak'.

It's freedom and creative expression.

Open your heart and allow what you put out to return to you and let what you wish to forget to wash away from your mind and be left on the paper.

Some benefits of poetry:

✍ Self-expression

✍ Emotionally healing

✍ Improves spelling

✍ Creative outlet

✍ Improves cognitive function

And more 😁

Sharing your poetic creations with others, in my opinion is an act of both vulnerability and in correlation to bravery. Putting these feelings of pain, anger, frustration, despair and loneliness contrasted with the positive emotions, is a wonderful stress reliever, an opportunity to order our thoughts and allows for greater self-awareness. Your poetry has the power to inspire and provide comfort. It's like a warm hug right to your soul.😌 It whispers 'you are not alone'. 🫂

Returning to the crux of this post...the Haiku! From my research it is a 17 syllable poem broken down into 5, 7 and 5 syllables, over the 3 lines respectively.

I thought I would give it a try so here we are:👇

Autumn adaptations 🍂

'Autumn light awakens

Winds chill, leaves crunch - silence breaks

Wistful Summer days'

This was quite relaxing paired with a bit of a mental workout 🧠😊 Leave a comment or send a direct message of your thoughts on my Haiku.

Have you created a Haiku? If you would like to, you are welcome to share it with us in the comments below.
